monterrey bay aquarium...

what a wonderful day in monterrey...from the chilly northwest to the sunny california coast. we even saw some whales off shore while we ate.

the boys loved the animals and the exhibits...we spent much of the day there and both boys crashed in the car on the drive home.

i do miss the ocean...

Owen, Wyatt & mom flew to Northern CA to visit family. It was a busy, eventful two weeks. We played with cousins, explored Apple Hill in Placerville, went to the Monterrey Bay Aquarium, visited Santa Cruz and the Pacific Ocean, stayed at the family cabin and celebrated Owen's THIRD birthday...

Owen loves his BIG cousin's outside toys...cool scooters and bikes and helmets to play with.

Here with cousins Garrett & Kadin at Apple Hill. We fed goats, drank apple cider, ate corn dogs, rode a train and tasted the best apples ever!
Spending the evening at Scandia (mom used to go there as a teen) with Uncle Todd and cousins. Owen tried to keep up with his cousins the entire time which is why he looks like he just took a bath...he did...a sweat bath...but he had fun!

Here are a bunch of shots taken at the family cabin...hiking around and playing at Redwood Camp:

fall leaves...

our yard is full of them and the boys love to play in them. we have been having so much fun outside these last few days and the photos are too cute not to post. here is an adorable one of Wyatt...wish I could attach a sound byte so you could here the boys laughing...contagious!

the dragon and the dragon slayer...

our adorable little boys this halloween...trying on their costumes a few days before, playing in the leaves before heading out to trick or treat and walking the block with Owen's good friend, Bella. it was our first and it was pretty fun. Wyatt figured out what was going on by house #2 and would start to squirm when Owen walked up to the doors pointing to make sure he could go too. he'd reach into the bowls and take a piece of candy then say "thank you" as best he can and wave bye-bye. I think I smiled the entire time we were out there. It was a beautiful evening and a wonderful time with my boys...the dry boys!

in the backyard...

Seriously, my boys would be outside ALL day if I did not force (and I mean pick them up and carry) them inside. Quite frequently, Owen asks me if he can go outside even before breakfast.

If this isn't the cutest face...Owen asked me to cover him with leaves. I told him to smile so I could take his picture and he gave me an awful face so I told him to laugh as I clicked and this is what I got...priceless.

Can I even post this on a public blog? Owen can hardly stop playing long enough to go pee...if you look to the bottom right corner, you'll see Wyatt's foot as he stands by watching his big brother.

apple cider...yum

The boys and I spent an hour at Fort Missoula learning how to make apple cider...the REAL way. Of course, most of our time was spent climbing trees and running around but the boys did participate in making the cider. They rolled the apples into the press and watched as the instructor "chopped" the apples into tiny pieces. When it was done, we got to try some and it was delicious.

It took me a good minute to get Wyatt to stop and look at me so I could take this photo. He is just as busy and crazy as his brother.

Owen watching as we piled all the apples into the basket so we could wash them before rolling them into the press.

Pumpkin Pickin'

The boys and I went to a local church pumpkin patch to pick our pumpkins. They had fun running all over, picking up pumpkins (rolling them down the hill), crawling through the hay maze and mostly just being outside. It was a beautiful day and unseasonably warm. Their adorable pumpkin tie-dye t-shirts came from their Grammie.

Wyatt at 17 months

Our little blue eyed boy is getting so big! In the past month his vocabulary has exploded. The other day in Lowe's he said "chainsaw" as we walked past them. He pointed and looked at me repeating "chainsaw, chainsaw." He also says "go downstairs," "airplane," "ha-ta" (helicopter), "motorcycle," "outside" and so much more. It is amazing to see your kids growing right before your eyes. He is such a sweetie and loves his brother so much. We are so blessed!

Gymnastics

We recently went to try a gymnastics class with a group of new friends. Both boys had a lot of fun and spent the hour running around, jumping on the trampoline and hanging from the bars. This was the first time Owen went off on his own and had to listen to a "teacher." He did really well following instructions. Wyatt and I had fun climbing all over and hopping down the long trampoline. At one point when I was taking a photo of Owen, I looked over and Wyatt was swinging from a low bar...all on his own, feet off the ground. It was a fun morning and a new activity we will definitely try again.

The last of our summer days...

Not much excitement in our home. Just keeping busy playing outside and chasing these two little boys around. We had some cold weather and rain this week reminding us that Fall is right around the corner. We are trying to make the most out of the warm, sunny days before they are gone.
Owen has had his big boy bike for awhile but is just now really starting to ride. He loves sunglasses and uses sticks to whack the weeds in the yard. Wyatt is walking quite well now and is really starting to test his boundaries. He gets so frustrated trying to communicate but can accomplish quite a lot.
We are so lucky to have these guys entertaining us every day. Life is never boring and sometimes we can spend hours just playing and goofing around together. We hope to get in a camping trip before the weather gets too cold so look for more photos soon.

FIRST BLOG

Okay...here I am creating a blog for my family. I can't guarantee I'll update it regularly but I will try to add pictures and comments as the year progresses. I guess this is the cool thing to do and it seems much easier than emailing a bunch of people. So, from now on you can check out our blog to see photos of the kids and to learn about the latest happenings for the Dry Family.

The photos I added today are from this year and you have probably already seen them, but I will take more soon and post those too.
